Our story

A Cape Town club with a world-sized ambition

Our objective is to provide an opportunity for aspiring young cyclists to excel at the highest level, locally and internationally.

Kinetic has raced every age category since 2017 and became a registered non-profit company in December 2018. The directors are unpaid volunteers, a chartered accountant signs off the budget, and at least three in four riders come from historically disadvantaged communities.

Riders in Kinetic colours have won national and provincial titles, raced in Belgium and the Netherlands, and more than fourteen of them have worn South Africa's green and gold.

A new chapter for 2027

Kinetic Cycling Academy

From 2027 Kinetic focuses on what it does best: developing U15 and U17 riders, boys and girls aged 13 to 16, in a squad of 16. The six strongest earn a month of racing in Europe.

Coaching that counts

A head coach writes every rider's plan. Team managers and coaches hold UCI or Cycling South Africa qualifications.

School first

Selection for Europe weighs race results, training, school marks and conduct, published in advance. Education is never traded for a race.

Safe by design

Every rider is a minor. Two adults on every trip, police-cleared staff, a named welfare officer and signed parental consent.

Mentors who made it

Academy alumni come back to mentor the next group, on the bike and in life.

Results off the bike

Three Microsoft certifications. One former rider earned them with academy support, now works as a data engineer and mentors academy riders.

Matric, away from home. Another moved from a rural town to a host family in Cape Town and finished Matric through a school partnership.

Teams in Europe

A UCI Continental team from Cape Town

The plan for 2028: ten riders, six South Africans and four Belgium-based, with three paid staff and six months of UCI racing from a team house in Belgium or the Netherlands. South Africa has one Continental team in 2026. A Cape Town team would be the second, and the only one with its own youth academy behind it.
